Celebrating triumph over the Nor'easter
Chesapeake's Cedar Road Assembly of God church and school community recently celebrated the volunteers who came out to help after the small campus on Cedar Road was flooded for the fall storm. Rev. Ben Bonnici, Prinicipal Julia Kennedy and staff were most overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers who heard their urgent plea for help on the radio and television. Congressman Randy Forbes was the first one on the scene, where he rolled up his sleeves and got to work until the job was done. About 30 more Good Samaritans were close behind him, including Chesapeake City Councilman Cliff Hayes, Chesapeake Sheriff's Office Colonel Jim O'Sullivan, nearby Pastor Kim Brown of Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church as well as Fire Fighters Brian Moulton and Chuck Poole of Station 15. The church and school were rededicated during the celebrating and First Volunteer Forbes was the guest speaker.
